Description
Written by Australian Author Lee Phethean, The Possums That Could Fly is the third and final book in this series. Inspired by the relationship his two boys have with each other as brothers. The Possums That Could Fly shares the challenging tale of two brothers learning to live, share and grow together. Lee has modeled on his own experiences as a parent and made this wonderful rhyming story is a joy to read.
Constant Fighting
(From the Author) Having come from a family with a much older brother and sister, I didn’t really experience the daily bickering and arguing that close siblings exhibit. My wife, on the other hand, had warned me that we would be in for a ride as our boys turned from toddler to pre-schooler. Sure enough, in the blink of an eye, our two bundles of joy have grown up to be fierce competitors in the, “Who-brushes-their-teeth-first?” game or the, “If-you-do-that-again-I’m-not-gonna-be-your-friend!” stand off. Not to mention the elation one has in getting the other into trouble.
Final Book in the Series
(From the Author) This relationship seemed an ideal subject matter for what will be my final instalment in this series of books. Even though it is exhausting to listen to the fights, it is an important part of growing up and one which I hope will make each boy stronger. It builds resilience, competitiveness, understanding and hopefully compassion. There are times when, as a parent, your blood boils and patience wears thin but all is forgotten when you look at the times when they laugh with each other, give each other a hug and support each other in this daunting world.
